YVON MICHEL
For almost 25 years, Yvon Michel has had an eminent carreer in the world of Canadian boxing. Today he is considered one of Canada’s biggest boxing experts, amature and professional.
He earned a diploma in physical education from the University of Quebec in Triois-Rivières in 1978. After a short teaching carreer, M. Michel was notably the chief trainer for the National boxing team of Canada from 1992 until 1998, which includes the Olympic Games in
Los Angeles in 1984. He drove Canada to the best results in history at the Panamerican Games in Mal Del Plata in Argentina, in 1995, and the Commonwealth Games in Victoria, in 1994. Under the direction of the Canadian National team, a new record of victories and medals was obtained on the international scene.
M. Michel has also been a comentator and analyst for Radio Canada during the boxing events in the Olympic Games held
in Atlanta, 1996 and in Seoul, 1988. He held the same position at ATV during the Olympic Games in Barcelona in 1992. He has been the analyst for boxing shows at RDS since it was founded in 1989. For six years, from 1997 until 2004, Yvon Michel occupied the position of General Director for Group Interbox. During this time Group Interbox discovered two boxers who became world champions.
Along with his friends he founded his own enterprise, The Yvon Michel Group « GYM », in the summer of 2004. He holds the position of President, General Director. Since then GYM has become the organization the most active in Canada with regards to presenting boxing events.
GYM has established connections with corporate partners and televisiojn networks that allowed them to present the most prestegious and popular boxing series in Quebeec : « The Budweiser Boxing Series in co-operation with the casinos of Montreal and Lac Leamy. »
Currently there are approxinmately twenty boxers with GYM who have already organized more than 50 events in little more than than 2 years of the of the groups’ existence.
M. Michel has also been a consultant for the dramatic series, The 7th Round, that aired on Radio Canada in the autumn of 2006.
With his vast experience as a trainer, his talent for managing and his ability to
communicate, M.Michel has largely contributed to the emergence of boxing in
