Jean Pascal cleared to box on December 7th
“Return of the King” program at the Bell Centre

Montreal, November 14th, 2007 – It was a supremely confident Jean Pascal who today sat at a press conference at Houston restaurant in Laval to announce his much-improved health (he was cleared for action by his doctors late last week, following a shoulder injury), as well as his intention to participate in the December 7th boxing gala at the Bell Centre. With only three weeks remaining until the “Return of the King” gala, more than 9,300 tickets have already been sold.

GYM director, Alexandra Croft, who is currently attending the WBC conference in the Philippines, confirmed Pascal’s impressive new fourth-place ranking by the organization, ahead of Mikkel Kessler who occupies the fifth spot. The upcoming confrontation between third-ranked Russian, Denis Inkin and second-ranked English contender Carl Froch, will further enhance Pascal’s standing.

Pascal (19-0-0, 14 KOs), the undefeated and reigning NABF, NABA, and NABO, champion had already committed to fighting in a semi-final match on an ESPN-broadcast show at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Florida on January 11th, 2008, but was adamant about participating in the Bell Centre gala.

In his last three outings Pascal has stopped Christian Cruz by TKO at Uniprix Stadium, derailed Kingsley Ikeke by unanimous decision at the Pierre Charbonneau Centre, and most recently floored Esteban Camou with a knock-out punch at the Montreal Casino. His short-term plans include a much-anticipated match-up against Edison “Pantera” Miranda in early 2008 which will be televised by an American broadcaster.

Pascal’s encounter is part of the powerhouse undercard line-up supporting Joachim Alcine’s (29-0-0, 18 KOs) headline first title defense bid versus Alfonso “The Hurricane” Mosquera on December 7th. Also featured on the Budweiser Boxing Series undercard, number-one-ranked light heavyweight Adonis “Superman” Stevenson (9-0-0, 7 KOs) poised to confront Quebec Light Heavyweight Champion David Whittom (9-4-1, 5 KOs) for the vacant Canadian Championship. Wunderkind Phil LoGreco will put his untarnished record of thirteen wins on the line in an eight-round engagement, while super middleweight David Lemieux will compete in a rapid-fire four-round bout rounding out the evening’s action-packed program.
