Officials selected by the WBC and the RACJ

Montreal, Thursday, September 17th 2009 – The Offices of WBC President Mr. Jose Sulaiman Chagnon and those of Mr. Richard Renaud, Commissioner of Combat Sports in Quebec, have jointly released the Officials list for Laval’s own Jean Pascal’s (23-1-0, 15KO) first defense bout of his WBC World Light Heavyweight title this upcoming September 25th at the Montreal Bell Centre. Pascal is set to face mandatory contender and former World Champion Silvio « Il Barbaro » Branco (59-9-2, 36KO). The Supervisor of this bout will be WBC Executive Director Mr. Mauricio Sulaiman from Mexico. Jerry Bolen from Montreal will referee the bout and the three judges will be Mr. Oren Shellenberger from Texas, Mr. Adrio Zannoni from Rome and Mr. Richard DeCarufel from Montreal.


WBC mandated 7-day Weigh-In to take place Friday, September 18th.

For years now, the WBC has required safety weigh-ins at 30 and 7 days before the Championship bouts. Contestants must be no more than 10% and 5% over their contracted weight respectively. Last August 25th, Pascal weighed in at 186.2 lbs and Branco at 178.2 lbs. The weight limit at that time was 193 lbs. For tomorrow, the limit will be 184 lbs. Both athletes must weigh in at 175 lbs or less at the Official weigh-in the day before the bout.
