Official WBC 7-day Weigh-In

PASCAL AND BRANCO MAKE WEIGHT!

 


 

Montreal, Friday, September 18th 2009 – The 7-day security Weigh-In mandated by the WBC before all World championship bouts was held today, in connection with the WBC World Light Heavyweight title bout that will take place this Friday, September 25th 2009 at the Montreal Bell Centre between champion Jean Pascal (23-1-0, 15KO) and #1 rated WBC Mandatory contender Silvio Branco (59-9-2, 36KO). Both boxers had to respect the 184 pound limit imposed the week before the fight, being 5% over the Light Heavyweight limit of 175 lbs. Jean Pascal underwent this weigh-in this morning in Plattsburgh, NY under the supervision of Dr. Joseph Clauss. His recorded weight was 182 lbs. As for Branco, his weight was recorded at 176.6 lbs from his training camp facilities in Formia, Italy.


Adonis Stevenson predicts a KO!

Boxing in the Gala’s co-feature attraction, Montrealer Adonis « Superman » Stevenson (12-0-0, 9KO) predicts a KO victory for himself in his WBC International Super Middleweight championship bout against Commonwealth champion Jermain « Choo Choo » Mackey (18-3-0, 14KO). “I intend to start off my year with a KO over Mackey and then call out the best boxers in my division. I want to cross paths with boxers such as Sakio Bika, Edison Miranda or any other big name that has the guts to fight me. I want to fight for a World title before the end of 2010!” declares Stevenson. Mackey has never lost by KO. His 3 losses were all by decision, including a decision loss to Jean Pascal in 2006.

· Saturday, September 19th: Arrival to Canada of Silvio Branco on Air Canada, Flight number

  418 at 5:11 PM. The flight connects in Toronto. He will be accompanied by his renowned

  trainer, Mr. Patrizio Oliva, 1980 Olympic Champion and WBC Welterweight champion in

  1986-87.

· Monday, September 21st at 11 AM: First face to face meeting between Pascal and Branco at

  the final press conference, which will take place at the Coach’s Room inside the Bell Centre.

· Tuesday, September 22nd: Public Training at GYM: 10172 St-Laurent in Montreal. Branco at

  1PM and Pascal at 2PM

· Thursday, September 24th: Official Weigh-In at 3 PM at Houston’s Restaurant in Laval
