Sebastien Demers Looks to Spin Top 10 WBO ranking into ring magic

The news could not be better for Sebastien Demers: World Boxing Organization rankings issued today place him at the number ten position world-wide. With next Saturday’s Budweiser Boxing Series preliminary program pitting him against tough contender Mohammad Said (22-6-1, 15 KOs) of Brazil in an IBF championship match, the official nod to the Canadian Middleweight champion’s many pugilistic talents could not have been more auspiciously timed.

Said’s last confrontation against Douglas Dias which ended in a knock-out victory electrified a sold-out stadium filled with fight fans at the Academia Radial Leste in Sao Paulo. Demers’ (21-1-0, 9 KOs) memorable last bout was versus the powerful Walid Smichet (17-3-3, 13 KOs), who will be fighting Mexico City’s Alejandro Luis Garcia (7-5-0, 3 KOs) on the December 1st program, and had a capacity crowd at the Montreal Casino’s Cabaret venue yelling for more.

Also adding to the excitement of the evening’s line-up are Antonin Decarie (16-0-0, 5 KOs) versus Andres Pablo Villanfe (14-3-3, 3 KOs); the explosive Paul “The Volcano” Mbongo (12-1-1, 4 KOs) taking on Stephane “Brutus” Tessier (3-13-0, 1 KO); Monsef Askri (9-0-0, 7 KOs) challenging Boston-native Jimmy Leblanc (11-13-4, 3 KOs) to a quick four-round bout; and Quebec light welterweight champion Dierry Jean (8-0-0, 5 KOs) confronting Saul “Navajito” Corral (5-3-0, 2 KOs).
