Jean Pascal confirmed as October 6th boxing gala headliner
At the Montreal Casino’s Cabaret de Casino venue
Montreal, September 19th, 2007 – The participation of the mighty Jean Pascal in the Budweiser Boxing Series presented by the Montreal Casino gala on October 6th has been confirmed today by Groupe Yvon Michel. Pascal who has a spotless record of 18-0-0,
13 KO, most recently decisively defeated the powerful Kingsley Ikeke (23-3-0, 13 KO)
in a memorable 12-round encounter broadcast by ESPN2 as part of its Friday Night Fights series during NASCAR weekend in Montreal. This time the Unified North American Champion who promoter Yvon Michel has dubbed “the best prospect in the world”, will measure his considerable talents against 31-year-old Esteban “Rocky” Camou who brings an impressive record of 22-3-0, 19 KO to the show-down. A solid puncher, Camou who hails from Tijuana, Mexico will need to bring his “A” game if he hopes to end local hero Pascal’s victorious streak which is complemented by his current #3 WBO, #4 WBC, #13 IBC, and #14 WBA rankings. According to Yvon Michel, GYM president, “This match-up will allow Pascal to showcase his range of talents and, more importantly, to remain active to the great pleasure of his fans and supporters; while maintaining an extremely busy competitive schedule over the next few
months.”
The evening’s scheduled semi-final match also promises to be lit up by the skills of yet another undefeated local favourite. Phil “The Italian Sensation" LoGreco (12-0-0, 8 KO)
is pitted against Frank Houghtaling (19-13-5, 4 KO) who is looking to redeem himself following a seventh-round defeat against Matthew Hatton earlier this year at the Paris Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. Super middleweight LoGreco’s crowd-pleasing style and unstoppable work ethic ensure a great match-up.
Among the other talents to grace the ring on October 6th will be GYM’s up-and-coming welterweight Manolis Platis (7-0-0, 3 KO), Montrealer Dierry Jean (6-0-0) who will fight in a six-round bout, and Francisco Contreras (4-0-0, 4 KO) of the Dominican Republic, who will undergo trials at GYM.
The October 6th Budweiser Boxing Series presented by the Montreal Casino gala will be broadcast live on Radio Canada’s Passion Sports, beginning at 3:00 p.m. EST.
Tickets are available by contacting GYM at (514) 383-0666 or through the Admission network.
